Our Story

Sabrina and Brian were born and raised in different parts of New York, but their paths were destined to cross in a much sunnier place—San Diego. For years, they unknowingly lived only two blocks apart in the coastal town of Pacific Beach. Sometimes the universe works in mysterious ways, and it wasn’t until one magical spring evening in 2022 that their stars aligned.

It all started on a Saturday night at Cass St., a neighborhood bar just down the street. As Sabrina waited in her car for her best friend to arrive (who, naturally, seemed to be moving at the pace of a lazy summer breeze), she felt that familiar restlessness creeping in. “Why wait?” she thought, “I’ll just go inside and grab a drink.”

Now, Sabrina wasn’t exactly strolling into this bar in her heels. She had a broken foot and was gliding around on a knee scooter. But nothing, not even a busted foot, could keep her from enjoying the night. She wheeled herself in like a goddess, and then, fate did what it does best.

She sat down at the bar, next to two guys—one of whom, of course, was Brian.

Brian and his childhood best friend had spent the day golfing in the sun at Torrey Pines and were closing out their evening with burritos and beer at this very bar.

The conversation sparked and they quickly learned they were all from New York and more surprisingly, had been close neighbors in PB all this time. When Sabrina’s bestie finally arrived, the four of them instantly clicked. They dubbed themselves “The Dawes Dawgs” in a silly tribute to the street they shared, Dawes Street. And just like that, they became the best of friends.

Soon Sabrina found herself spending countless days walking to the other corner of Dawes to Brian’s lawn, hanging out with him and his welcoming group of friends. Sabrina was drawn to how effortlessly he brought people together, his warmth, generosity, and charisma. Brian couldn't help but fall for Sabrina’s carefree spirit, joyful energy, and loving personality. As he puts it, she was like his very own real-life Jennifer Aniston (his celebrity crush) and he loved everything about her. When they were in a room together, they would often catch each other exchanging glances, paired with sweet smiles.

One evening, Brian picked Sabrina up in his Jeep Wrangler, the one he’s had since his early college days. They drove up to Law St. Beach, where the world seemed to stand still. In that moment, under the vast, starry sky, they shared a true love’s kiss. It was like the ocean whispered, “This is your moment.” And in that instant, everything just felt…right.

Like most love stories, it wasn’t all smooth sailing. Though Brian was making all the right moves, showing Sabrina how truly special she was, she hesitated. Sabrina, cautious by nature and thoughtful when it came to her heart, wasn’t ready to dive in just yet. Brian, understandably, was heartbroken. He respected her wishes, gave her space, but he never stopped believing in them.

True love always finds a way. It wasn’t long before Sabrina came to realize Brian was the one. From then on, they were inseparable. Their days were filled with sunset swims, laughter, and long drives blasting Blink-182 with the windows down. Sabrina found herself watching baseball games with Brian, learning all the players and the rich history of the New York Yankees. Brian started hiking with Sabrina, discovering the magic of national parks. They were finding joy in each other’s company no matter what.

Just a few months into their relationship came the sweetest surprise. What started as a typical day, Brian watching football and Sabrina out for a hike, turned into adopting a puppy. Sabrina came back with a rescue from Mexico, with delicate bambi-like legs and pretty doe eyes. Ruca—a bundle of joy who would change their lives in the best way possible. Together, they trained baby Roo, and their love for her deepened, marking the start of their own little family.

Sabrina had always thought Brian would never leave Pacific Beach, but when it came time to take the next step in their relationship, he agreed without hesitation to move in together. They found a place to start their next chapter—a cozy little nest with everything they needed, giving them a glimpse into their dream of what owning a home of their own could one day feel like. The rest is history.

And now, as we stand on the brink of forever, we are excited to embrace all that's to come. With hearts full of love and big dreams of the future, we're ready to build a life together, knowing that no matter what the future holds, we will always have each other. Thank you for being part of our story.
